Swiss Addiction Research Award

The Swiss Addiction Research Award (SARA) was donated by the Swiss Society of Addiction Medicine (SSAM). It will be conferred under the auspices of the SSAM every second year.

The award consists of a cash-prize of 5.000 CHF. It may be split. The prize will go to outstanding scientific papers in addiction research. These papers will have to be published within the last two years or have already been accepted for publication.

It is possible for people who are of Swiss nationality as well as for people and research groups who work in an institution within Switzerland to be nominated or to apply.

An independent curatorium will decide on the granting of the award. No recourse to legal action is permitted.

The curatorium is appointed by the board of the SSAM. It consists of the following persons:

  •  Gerhard Wiesbeck (president)
  •  Jacques Besson
  •  Barbara Broers
  •  Hans Gammeter
  •  Rudolf Stohler

The award will be ceremoniously presented at an event of the SSAM by the president of the curatorium. He will give the reasons for the decision and will honour the laureate.

At present, there are no applications possible.
